Hi,

My team consists of a Paladin(6), Fighter (dwarf/6), fighter/thief (elf 5/6), Fighter/Druid (half-elf/5), Cleric(half-elf/6), Illusionist (gnome/6) and I just can't win the talonite priests and Trolls of the Temple (where Egenia is located).

What I am trying to to do (among dozens of different approaches) is to entagle them with my druid. Then throw 2 fireballs with my mage to the trapped trolls and priests. But still when the trolls approach me things become very hard.

I am trying to give the fight in the small passage just before the temple but I start to think that it might not be a good idea.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Try casting one of the druid's long lasting damage spells on the priests to make them take some damage each round and prevent them from casting spells, and concentrate on killing the trolls ASAP. Don't forget you need to finish trolls that go down ASAP with acid/fire arrows or others sourcers of fire damage.
Summoning animals/monsters, Animate Dead and then Haste the whole menagerie (your own party included) also helps a lot. Then attack in full force.
Or send animated skeletons in blindly to make the prists waste their spells on them while your party wait for the trolls to arrive.

EDIT: Another useful tactic may be to use Grease to slow down the Trolls while you pummel them with spells and arrows.
If you have invisibility potions you can use your fighter/thief to backstab som of the priests.

I remember this battle was fun and with several different tactics that could be used.

Drawing them into the narrow passageway is a good idea. In addition to what Petrus suggested, you could try what I usually do:

Lay out (If you have these spells available): Grease, Web, Entangle, and Spike Growth. This will deal ongoing damage to anything caught in the AoE. You can then draw back and let the spells do the work while you wait for anything that makes its save to come through. Likely very little will. Keep an eye on the spells though, and when one expires, cast it again in the area. The real key with the spell brew is Spike Growth though. That spell absolutely rocks.

As noted, you'll need fire or acid to finish off the trolls (although if their brought to 0 HPs in the spell brew, they'll die without being hit by acid/fire). Buff your party as well with Haste, Mirror Image (for the mage), and anything else you think may help. Summon monsters/undead if you have that ability available as well.
You can ignore this group totally, the way down is elsewhere.
Try clearing level 3 first, with the XP and equipment gained there you can return more powerful to clear level 2.

I actually killed those priests and Trolls. I had thought of going further and coming back later to finish them off (as you suggested), but I decided against it.

Thank you all for the tips. They were very valuable. I managed to clear this part with the help of two entanglement spells and a "Silence" to the priests (very important.) Then a double fireball to the trapped monsters and an Electrical Storm made my life a lot easier.
Useful tip to make entangle, web and grease more effective: in Kuldahar pick-pocket Arundel and the wizard in the tower (forgot his name) to get a couple Rings of Free-Action, they let your party members walk through the spell area without being affected. Paralyze some enemies with web or entangle, then walk in and smash 'em. This helps through the whole game not just Dragon's Eye.

Ring of Free-Action is an awesome item, plus pick-pocket is WORTHLESS for anything else since you can't steal from stores in IWD, and you might as well since you have a thief.
Entangle doesn't stop the mobs from hitting you back (with ranged attacks, at least), so be careful with that 'walk in and whack' strategy.
