the first time I installed the game it was full screen on my widescreen monitor, but I had to reinstall windows and NOW when I start the game it's in a box with black borders around it....how do I fix this? I can't play it like this...

Check your monitor settings whether it's set to display lower resolutions with black borders or stretched.

I'm not sure how to do that..
I tried using that widescreen mod, but all it did was make everything real small (1920x1080), and the game is STILL in a box with border around it...

do i need to mess with teh Compatability settings?

What graphics card have you got?

Right click on you desktop and open the control panel for your graphics card & look for scaling options.

With the Nvidia control panel it is under "adjust desktop size and position"

And if you have AMD, it's in Catalyst Control Center/My Digital Flat PAnels and tick "Enable GPU up-scaling."
