was just wondering if anyone had a guide or link to fighting in towns vs npcs, which are ok to kill, etc. In other games like baldurs gate series and others, sometimes fighting npc townies draws guards, or affects alignment, or the reaction of other town npcs. And quests of course, can't do a quest if you kill the npc.

What about IWD2. What are some reprocussions on killing town npcs other than you can't do their quests, or of course sell to merchants you take down. Early on they give a nice exp boost on some that I find probably won't be useful later, but then again who knows. Are town guards going to jump me later, are npc merchants and characters going to shun me, are there any alignment changes like other games have.

Thanks.
The only instance I know of where you can get away with attacking someone is at the Salty Dog tavern in IWD 2. If you talk to the Iron Collar mercenaries they will give you an attitude. If you attack them when dialogue is finished you won't get penalized, but since this will likely be one of your first battles, you'll find they are pretty tough. Attack anyone else and you'll get zerged by guards and townsfolk.

Edit: There is another one I thought of, but you aren't technically attacking the person because the target is an imposter. This is also in IWD 2.

Well, there is the point in the adventure where you have completed all available quests and cleared the Orc fortress, read all the dialogues and are ready to leave Targos for good. At that point, if you want to go around killing all the NPCs I don't see how it would affect the game (unless Oswald turns hostile too, you need to be able to talk to him to start the next chapter). But generally the EXP for combat with low level anything sucks. You get much better exp and gold farming more difficult mobs by camping in the wilderness areas rather than attacking the town. You can pickpocket NPCs in town, so you don't need to kill them to get whatever loot they are carrying.

Not sure if doing so will change your alignment, but even if it does that is only going to affect you if you have a Pally or a Monk.

This walkthrough is pretty detailed, but it doesn't really have the information you are looking for. But at least it tells you which NPCs have quests, so you'll know when you have finished an area and can go on your Murder Hobo killing spree.
