I've been playing IWD2 now for a while and have lots of saves. I was even playing it last night with no problems.

Today, I launch the game and I get to the main menu. When I click Load Game, it pauses for a few seconds, then the screen goes black with the error message:

An Assertion failed in InfScreenLoad.ccp at line number 1592.

Crash to desktop. I've even uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, and it's the same issue. I kept my old saves, but I can't even get to where you choose WHICH save to load... I guess I can try deleting all my old saves and reinstalling. But man I've got a ton of time invested in this game... I'd rather not.

Any help here? Thanks in advance

Assertion Failed in InfScreenLoad.cpp at line number 1592
"Occurs on choosing Load Game option at main menu. Cause: one or more of saved games are corrupted in a way that files contain no valid data but all zeros. Which game got corrupted you may find out with any bmp viewer which will "protest" on invalid bmp file.
The corrupted saved game must be removed from the mpsave folder. The reason why this happens is not clear."

You could also check the files sizes of the saves - any files that are very small would be likely candidates.

Awesome. Thanks. I've been good about making multiple saves, but I haven't done a re-load of an earlier save in a long time. This makes me think that it has to be my last save. Older, untouched saves can't get corrupted, can they?

Anyway, thanks again.

Older saves should be fine, but you could check them just to be sure..

I removed the last save, and then everything was fine. I looked at several saves, and they were all about the same size, so I think you'd have to go through all your saves one by one to determine which is broken.

Like I said, I got it on the first try, and only lost maybe a half hour of playtime. Thanks again.
