Well I almost passed ID2 with solo Monk - it was very overpowered - there was almost no enemy that can beat me.Funny it was :D
Liked the mother Egenia quest, was interesting discovering the origins of Isair and Medae.

I did too. It gave Isair and Madae a bit of depth which I don't usually see in DnD games. Normally in DnD, villains are doing bad stuff simply for the sake of doing bad stuff so this was a refreshing change. However, I missed this first in my first few playthroughs of IWD2
Chahopek the guardian is defeated. Challenging fight, fought him in melee, had to use ring of invisibility when he was almost dead to heal up as he was doing plenty of damage. Didn't try kiting him with my sling so not sure if that might have been a better option.

One thing thats a bit annoying about this fight is that when you kill him you auto rest until fully healed which took a lot of days, first time I killed him I was at deaths door myself and had to rest for about 100 days to fully heal, but tried again and healed up closer to his death meaning only about a 40 day rest for me. Equipping regen items didn't shorten the rest.

The extra hp, and resistances are nice. Would have liked some nice loot from him though.

When I went invisible he constantly cast teleport without error even if standing still.
Tried the fight again, managed to get the auto rest after the fight down to 4 days 8 hours. That will do :)
With the guardian down, the rest of the game should be a cakewalk. If you couldn't progress any further, it was going to be here where you got stuck.

The next area is Dragon's Eye and your solo barb will be able to clear it even if he was armed only with a rubber spatula. You might have trouble killing one guy but that's because he runs away when he takes too much damage. If he does run away, it won't break the game in any way.

The next area which MIGHT make your barb flinch a little will be one fight in the severed hand (and no, I'm not referring to Isair and Madae's final fight)

Why not just equip a ring of regeneration just prior to defeating him?

I hate those auto-rest sequences too. I was going for a minimal rest playthrough, and having forced "rest until healed" events tacked on a lot of unwanted time. For me, the worst forced rests were at the end of Dragon Eye where you'll go through four area transitions in rapid succession and each triggers a 1 day rest.

Indeed. Isair and Madae are easily-butchered pushovers by comparison to the guardian and that other nasty fight you're referring to in chapter 6. Actually, the two final bosses of the game are quite anti-climatic and an optimized party could probably defeat them when they're first encountered at the Wandering Village way back in Chapter 3. It's really a point of gameplay/narrative dissonance given how weak they are compared to how powerful they are made out to be.
Tried it both ways, without any regen items, then again with 2 rings and a periapt of wound closure, but it didn't shorten the rest. Its similar to when you talk to an npc to rest until fully healed it doesn't seem to use regen items, whereas resting for 8 hours utilises the regen items, not sure why it works this way.
I seem to be a little bit stuck. I'm up to the point where I need to take the histachii brew to get past that statue thing that makes you run away, but Nheero doesn't seem to be showing up in the library, I've tried resting a couple of times but he doesn't appear.
This part of the game is a pain in the arse. Dld you check the egg chamber on the second level? He's usually there.
Thanks, you got me looking on the right floor, he was in the lab where the potion is made, I was looking for him on the third floor. Back on track.
In all my playthroughs of IWD2, I always found Nheero in the egg chamber. Did you already talk him once after his transformation? He moves location if you ask him to research something but I don't ever recall him moving on his own
Yeah, I asked him to research feyrs, then later to research thorakssus.
Completed chapter 5, some tough fights but got through without too much trouble. After finishing chapter 5 I headed back to Kuldahar to re-supply and tackle the holy avenger fight.

The fight against the lost followers was a tough one, took several attempts but found a reliable tactic.

The weapons I used were the brilliant short sword, moonblade of selune, sparrow with +4 bullets and the club of disruption. I first targeted the two mages, using hit and run tactics with the sling and short sword to drop them as quickly as possible without taking any unnecessary hits in melee. Once the mages were down I went after the archer, relying on the short sword and its quick attacks to hit him for 1 or 2 hits then run before getting attacked by the warriors, this required some kiting to minimise damage. Whilst taking down the archer I also targeted the fast moving rogue who usually reached me first. Then when it was down to the 2 warriors I used the club for the dwarf which seemed to work well, again using hit and run, when he died, I switched to the moonblade to drop the last guy who had lots of immunities, again using hit and run, get in a hit or two then fall back before taking the hit, didn't always work but it reduced damage taken by quite a bit.

Great fight.

On to chapter 6.
Chapter 6 is complete. Some tough fights but overall not too bad and a fairly quick chapter.

IWD2 is now fully complete with my solo half orc Barbarian, ended the game at level 26.

The final fight seemed a bit tricky, did it on the first try but I think it would have been quicker had I just targeted one of the twins, whereas I took out the other enemies first then went after the twins. The fight on the rooftop with the half dragons and such was a rather tough encounter.
