If you go to Anson and his buddies he will tell you that he had to fight illusions to test his combat skills. He also says he had to clear rats out of a warehouse for 5 gold. This is a reference to first Baldur's Gate tutorial area. I'm also a little embarrassed this went over my head until now.

From the Bhaalspawn's journal: "All reports suggest that our feline forces have turned traitor and that the rats are on the offensive."

Reevor the dwarf, after the battle: "Ah yes, kill them like the rats that they are! A glorious battle unlike any this world has ever seen... Here's 5 gp, don't spend it all in one place."

Baldur's Gate is a legend, even in the far north.

There's even bigger reference. In the tavern in Easthaven you can meet elf named Erevain. Way later you can find his body in Dragon's Eye. In his diary he mentions his cousin, certain Xan...
