luckygoth64: why is it that the character i make from scratch starts at level 1, whereas the ones i import that has a + sign already are at level 10 but other premade ones starts at lvl 1?
and yes this game is so hard! i can use healing spell only once?
The expansion (Heart of Winter) is intended for higher level characters. The premade ones with a + are there for you to use in the expansion if you want to start that without having to roll and level your own characters.
The magic system used is known as the Vancian system. Your spell casters get a certain number of spells per day per spell level. This increases as the character level increases. In order to cast more than one of a specific spell, you need to go into your spellbook and memorize that spell more than once. Fill as many of your available slots as you want with the spell you want to cast. Then rest and you're loaded and ready to go.
