I've always loved this series. In some ways, even more than the Baldur's Gate games. I'd LOVE to see an Icewind Dale I and Icewind Dale II EE. Some new areas, some new weapons etc. I know there wouldn't be characters, because the Icewind Dale series doesn't roll that way. But still. An enhanced version would be pretty BA in my opinion. I've seen some mutterings about it going around the net. Anybody else think this would be freaking sweet?
Sure, might as well.

Do the same companies have the rights to IWD as they do to BG?
Before they released BG EE, I'd have said yes. After seeing how the BG EE turned out, I'm going to say no on this one.
I liked BG EE. The only gripe I had was that I had to strategically place Imoen somewhere else before cut scenes or she disappeared. Other than that I loved it. Great graphical resolution. New characters. New areas. It was great.

Of course, I think there should've been more areas and a little more content. But on the whole, I thought it was mahvelous.
I'm going to give them a little more time to get some more BGEE patches out before final judgement, it sucks they had the legal issues, but in any case, more options can't hurt imo, and anything that promotes the genre and gives it some face time when there are soooo many games out these days is a good thing for CRPG lovers ;) So, hopefully we can get more and more new cool games like this.
I may be wrong, but I don't think there'll be an IWDEE - too many engine differences. Just look at the IWD-in-BG2 conversion over at Gibberlings 3. And IWD2 adds the problem of the 3E rule set.
From what I've seen of the BG Enhanced Edition: no thanks!
@grogerson

I read somewhere that if they do an Icewind Dale EE, they'll be using the BG II engine. So it could make for some interesting gameplay. I've still got fingers and toes crossed. I agree. I'd like to see some more good RPGs out there. Seems like the market is flooded with shooters and action RPGs. I think D&D has been ignored for far too long.
