I was given IceWind Dale 2 for Christmas, and it was working fine for a while.

Picked it back up today and started playing, some of the sounds were extremely quiet, or inaudible. Sounds such as footsteps, voices, button clicking, etc.

I need help! :/

Try disabling EAX/Environmental Audio/WhateverTheyCallItThisTime. It's available from either the in-gam sound options menu, or the configuration utility, I think.
