Hey guys, does anyone know how to activate HOF mode on IWD2? I have searched in the gameplay options but I can't see it. DO I need to download something first, I only have the GOG - 2.01v

cheers

In your IWD folder (wherever you installed the game), run the Config utility. On the General tab, under the Difficulty option, there's a check box for HoF mode.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I actually googled this again and found the same topic that was started 2 years ago by someone else, a dude called Cromwest. I also have none of the extra files. I tried turning off my firewall and antivirus and redownloading and reinstalling but it didn't work, I still don't have a config file. =(

Oops, looked in the wrong place. Got it. Thank you again.

Be warned, the HoF mode for IWD2 is much, much harder than the HoF mode for IWD1. Since all monsters will always make all of their saves (unless they roll a 1) don't even bother with "save negates" spells. Also, while melee damage is buffed hugely, ranged damage is only buffed slightly. So orc archers actually do about 4 times more damage punching you than by shooting arrows at you. Save them for last. The game also becomes a huge damage race, which is partly to do with HoF and partly to do with D&D rules at high levels. Be prepared to burn through lots of healing spells and rest often. Also, don't let yourself get surrounded, ever. Enjoy!

Monster saves aren't perfect in HoF mode, monsters fail their will or reflex saves quite often, fortitude saves are improved a little more.
