Really I have windows 7 and I can not make this game work. It gets an error each time I try to start it. Any solutions?
If you need any more info I will be happy to give it.

Much more information is needed. You tell us nothing about your problem at all ("It gets an error..." means nothing.)

Do not get me wrong doubt it this will help with anything but the game is also installed on an laptop. Bascially you start it it changes color and then it crashes.
I tried to changed compatibility I unustalled it an installed it in another folder in another disk but nothing works.

An appcrash needs to have its crash dump examined by a competent tech. The exception code c0000005 could be caused by a whole number of things from memory (accessing wrong memory to bad memory) to drivers or more. It would be impossible to diagnose in a forum like this.
Try deleting or renaming ddraw.dll

I followed the steps described by Jigby and I see the game running, now I'm wondering how to get it to display in a higher resolution ^^.
c0000005 exception code is usually because DirectPlay is missing.

I know but I can not install it as the setup that comes with the game does not install anything it has an error. I tried to put from other sources but it still failed.

You're going to have to be specific about why installing DirectPlay on Windows 7 is failing for you. How are you trying to install it exactly (ask Google if you don't know how) and what goes wrong exactly?

Your post here is so vague it's practically screaming "don't try to help me, I'll just waste tons of your time".

Okay I will explain to enable direct play I have to go programs and features-turn window features on and of-legacy compenents-enable direct play. Problem there is no legacy components there. Its missing.

That is interesting. Screenshot? Which Windows 7 version (and localization)? Do you need DirectPlay functionality (multiplayer)?
I can't launch IWD2 either.

I get no error though. Nothing pops up. I notice in the task manager window that rundll32.exe is taking up all of my CPU usage when I try to launch the game.

I've tried reinstalling the game and rebooting, yet it still doesn't work.

- EDIT -

Turns out rundll32.exe was being blocked by my overly restrictive firewall which would not let the game launch. I'm not sure why rundll32 needs to connect to the internet, but it worked after I unblocked it.
