How do you actually see character damage?

Instead of just the creature saying "Damage Taken (10)

I've seen people get it to work on youtube playthrough's.. think it's a mod or something.

Anyway it would be nice to see it without having to turn To Hit rolls on feedback

What excactly do you mean by "see damage"?
If you mean "chunking" that only happens if a character or enemy receives so much damage that they go below -10 Hit Points.

In Baldurs Gate, it would tell you WHO dished out the damage

ie: Minsc did 13 damage to Gnoll Elite

In Icewind Dale it's like

Mummy - Damage Taken (6)


you have no idea who is dealing out the damage unless you turn to Hit rolls on in feedback...


I am utterly shocked nobody has posted a solution or knows what I'm talking about....it's fucking annoying lol

On mine it says "Mummy took 6 slashing damage from Kelvar"

I don't think it's a mod (I've got fix-pack and tweak-pack installed but this wasn't an option).

In the config program there's an option about feedback levels - I set this to increased feedback to give you more info about what your characters are doing (I can't remember the exact name but it's in there somewhere)

I don't see that option anywhere in the config

I must have the wrong version or not up to date. I thought 1.06 or whatever was the latest IWD patch. Or it's a mod or fixpack that does it


Can anybody actually help me????

How am I the only one on the internet who has this problem???

I am STUNNNNNED that I can't find any info on this problem

Just to check:
Have you got the GOG version or a CD version?
Have you got Heart of Winter installed?

(I can only guess that the latter expansion added the extra feedback as an option).

I'm not at home now and sadly home has no internet and work has no Icewind Dale.
I'll check out the exact page and wording for the feedback notices in the config program at home but it'll be Thursday before I can get to the internet to post the results so hopefully someone else can look into their config.exe program before then and find the page and option wording.

It must be the Heart of Winter upgrade... they must of realized how much it sucks to not know whose doing what kinds of damage.

My bad - it's not in the config program (I must have been thinking of BG2 which has it)
Other than major PC problems last night (windoze won't boot but luckily I have a linux-mint install and a live CD so I was able to work around it and get IWD running (clunkily) in Wine) I managed to have a look.
(I thought yesterday was Sunday so I thought I wouldn't be back in w*rk to give and answer LOL )

So, it's not an option in config - In the in-game options menu, under 'gameplay' and 'feedback' I've got an option for 'combat information' feedback (just under 'hit rolls' which I've not got checked). I've got the rest checked but I think that's the only one that would be relevant.

So if that's not an option or not working like that for you then it must be HOW expansion...

It actually isn't so bad if I turn actions off and To hit rolls on.

Thanks for your help anyway, I'll see if I can get the expansion ;)
