Hello everyone, just got IWD2 and am a little bit lost in the character creation process. I am interested in making an all drow party, but I want to make one that is balanced and fun to play (but not overpowered). Anyone got any suggestions?

Also, do you have to multiclass in able to beat the game? Ive never multiclassed before and have no idea why everyone else seems to multiclass all their characters (just started table top d&d a month ago, so I don't know the rules very well). Thanks.
In my opinion, multiclassing is a bit of a waste.
My ultimate IWD2-party usually consist of
-Sorcerer, usually elven or aasimar(as leader because of the high charisma)
-Fighter, human/aasimar
-Fighter/barbarian, human/aasimar or half orc
-Ranger, usually elven
-Cleric, usually dwarven, Ilmater tends to be a good choice as you're able to do some extra stuff
-Rogue, halfling, any kind

The sorcerer is quite useful as they can cast more spells a day, although they have less spells available
The fighters are my tanks, they run in and bash the heads in on everybody
The ranger is extremely useful in certain places in the game
The Cleric is quite selfexplanatory, everybody need a healer. Make him/her beefy as well
The rogue I choose mostly because of the high number of traps as well as locked boxes or doors, even though a fighter or barbarian can smash open locks with high enough strenght.

Of my compilation, you should also be able to make an all drow-party. (not quite sure of the rogue and sorcerer though, I'm too tired to remember correclty XD)
Keep in mind though, they are sensitive to daylight, and much of the game is also above ground. Try to keep nighttime whenever you can.
If you really want to use drow, understand that they have a +2 level adjustment and level up very slowly. You might want to make a group with 4 members or less, so that each character gets more XP to make up for the slower leveling.
Don't worry, you can't create an overpowered party without cheating.

All drow party will work.
Day blindness is no problem, it's only a -1 penalty and you can choose to fight at night if you desire.
In the prologue you'll be quite powerful but reaching level 3 and above will require considerably more XP which will make some battles harder, especially in chapter 1.

For your party you'll definitely need a pure class cleric, take a non-evil aligned one for spontaneous healing, the deity can be evil if you wish.

You'll also need a pure class sorcerer or diviner or wizard to get access to high level spells as fast as possible.

As 3rd and 4th character I recommend taking a pure druid for additional options and a bard for the powerful songs.

For handling locks and traps you don't need a dedicated thief, if sneak attacks aren't very important to you a rogue1/transmuter or rogue1/diviner will do quite well.

As sixth character you might want someone who does enough damage per hit to overcome damage reduction easily. For doing physical damage high strength is essential.

A caster-heavy sample party: (str-dex-con-int-wis-cha)

sorcerer 10-19-16-12-3-20 or 16-20-16-5-3-20
cleric 14-13-16-5-18-14 or 18-18-16-5-18-5
druid 14-17-16-10-18-5 or 18-18-16-5-18-5
bard 16-20-16-5-3-20
rogue1/transmuter 16-20-16-20-3-5
paladin3/fighter 18-18-16-5-3-20

Thanks for the help!

@kmonster:
I made a party very similar to yours, except I used a wizard instead of a sorcerer, and a roguexx/ranger1 instead of your rogue/transmuter.

I think I may have made a mistake by taking a wizard instead of a sorcerer, as it seems that she has even less spells then my bard! Does it get better at higher levels?

Also, what kind of things should I focus on for my druid? Like what spells should I take, right now she has healing and entangle. Also, what weapon should I focus on? Right now she uses a sword and shield, but she only wears light armor so I was thinking of giving her a bow. Would this work?

Thanks!
Wizard is a standard class, you'll gain more spells when you level up. Sorcerers are more fun because of spontaneous casting but wizards reach new casting levels faster, can memorize all spells and get bonus feats.

Does your druid even have the proficiency for using a shield effectively ? Which weapon is best for your druid depends on what you find and can use without penalty, my druid used mostly spears/halberds for melee and slings for ranged, your drow is also proficient in bows. Get the rapid shot feat, it grants a free extra attack per round.
For melee the arctic boar shapeshift you get at level 5 is surprisingly powerful.

My favorite druid spell is static charge, it's cumulative with itself and call lightning.
If you put skill points into spellcraft until you have 10 including int modifier you can take the scion of storms feat for 20 percent extra electricity damage and damage resistance. GSF transmutation makes the saves harder. Dodge and improved critical are useful combat feats, you can also give dash to everyone for faster movement.

Sunscorch and barkskin are also useful druid spells, the level 4 giant vermin spells gets better as you level up, animal summoning is also nice, just read the spell descriptions and choose according to your playstyle.
