Overall, it's the worst part of a chapter that's nothing but filler. The entire premise chapter makes no sense to begin with since there's no reason why you wouldn't stay with Oswald. Going through the Underdark makes
even less sense, and the proposed rationale for needing to avoid the mountain passes is quite frankly contrived. What's worse, it would have been downright
trivial for the writers to have improved the entire segment by changing it into a "looking for allies" quest.
