This is about original IWD (with HoW and TotL)

I seem to recall that dual-classing into specialist mages required additional minimum attributes, aside from 17 INT. I can't find the info anywhere. Can anyone please confirm if this is the case?

Thanks.

After hours of searching this is the closest I found. From Baldur's Gate:

I'm really really sure I read about it somewhere else for IWD. But can't find even the slightest indication anywhere. Am I going crazy.

Anyway, assuming those stats are correct that is what I need.
IWD uses 2nd Edition rules which state that to dual class your minimum stat in your primary stat MUST be >=15 and your minimum stat in your secondary class MUST be >=17. Barbarians, Bards, Monks, Paladins and Sorcerers may not dual class.

Yes I know all that, but that wasn't my question. Dual classing into specialist mages requires additional minimum attributes, aside from 17 INT. And that link to which I posted does seem to have them correct. I verified three of them in-game: Abjurer (15 WIS), Illusionist (16 DEX) and Transmuter (15 DEX).

I'm just wondering where did I read that before, because I can't find it anywhere now.

Yeah, specialist mages have a third stat requirement. Unfortunately I can't recall what they are offhand. Note that dual classing into specialist mages was only possible in original BG1 and IWD1. In BG2, for example, dual classing did not include specialisation or kits.
Each specialist mage class has an additional stat minimum at creation, should be the same as here:

baldursgate.fandom.com/wiki/Specialist_Mage

I'm not sure whether this stat minimum is also enough for dualclassing or you also need 17+ in it.
Be aware that the opposing schools are different in IWD with HoW installed, check the HoW manual p.38.

You can easily double-check the specialist minimums at the character creation and to get sure about dualclassing requirements you can quickly create a dummy character and solo a fetch quest in the beginning (easiest difficulty for double XP) to reach level 2 and try dualing afterwards.

It's enough. See my post #4.
