Hello...I started Icewind Dale, played for about 2 hours and I was dieing constantly. My party was terrible.

I found this guy's site and went with what he had . Please see "my party"

http://mikesrpgcenter.com/icewind/hints.html#myparty

I have pretty much what he has but all are level 1, expect from the Cleric which is level 2.

I have questions about dual classing/mutliclassing... (still barley know the difference)

So the guys part says that he had a hafling male fighter which he made also a thief... when do I get to make my Hafling male a theif? I thought it was at level 2, because my level 2 cleric can dual class...we'll is that because she's a human?

Also, he had an Elven Male Fighter who was also a mage... when do I get to make my Elven Fighter a mage?

Is that dual classing or multiclassing?

To summarize, I have 2 classes (not human- see the website) I want to ...dual class? when do I get to do that?
Basically, it goes like this:

you have multiclassing and dual classing.

Humans cannot multiclass. They can only dual class. This means at some point they decide to stop advancing in their first class and start a new class. Once they do that, they can never advance in the old class again and the features and abilities of the old class are barred to them until their new class level surpasses that of their old class. At that point, they get all the old class' abilities back.

Only non-humans can multiclass (and they cannot dual class). What this means you choose when creating the character what multiclass combination you want them to be (there's a multiclass button when choosing classes. I believe it's to the right of the class listing when creating the character). A multiclassed character advances in both (or all three) classes simultaneously, and any XP awards are divided equally between the classes.

Hope that helps.
Woops...oh dear. I'm already in to my game... going to Khuldahar. -.-
Looks like I'll have to start again.

So... you know how that guy had Halfing Fighter/Thief and Elven Fighter/Mage, he would've done that at creating the characters?

Oh dear...gonna have to start again then.

Well..thanks for the quick reply, otherwise I would've just kept playing....and never gotten to mutliclass.
Okay...created all my normal characters, now I'm going to do the Hafling Fighter/Thief
and the Elven Fighter/Mage.

Multiclass is 2nd last at the bottom of the class listing.

You should be aware that Mike's party isn't the most powerful and the easiest to play. The game will be easier if you max the physical stats and dump the mental ones. Int is only useful for the mage, wis only for the cleric and cha only for your party diplomat.
