So I'm a first time IWD player, but a veteran of BG & BG2. I've always hated the roll/reroll stats portion of the char generation, so I always used ShadowKeeper to put my stats where I wanted them.

When I use DaleKeeper, I get the following error right when I open it up, and then the second, longer error when I click the X. I did the standard GOG install, so I have no clue why DaleKeeper is having so much trouble.

I tried using a char editor, but I cannot find my player created char files anywhere (they are not located in the Character folder, randomly enough), so I can't get my stats where I want them. Help!

Dalekeeper is far from bulletproof... it's quite risky, actually. It's an incomplete port of Shadowkeeper, and you use it at your own risk. The first error is indicating that Dalekeeper's internal checks have failed, and this is most often because of installed mods that add or modify resources. The second error is showing that Dalekeeper's installation directory (in settings) is not set correctly. It cannot function if the installation directory does not point the IWD main folder, where chitin.key is located.

To overcome the first error, go into your game and drop everything from your inventories onto the ground; this is where the problem lies. When your inventories are clear, save the game in a new slot and edit that save. Don't forget to pick up your stuff again. :)

I dropped my equipment and moved DaleKeeper to the main folder, but I am still getting both errors. :(

If I could find my character files, then i could use the character trainer I grabbed. Any ideas where those are?

You do not need to put Dalekeeper in the main folder, you need to alter the options to point to the installation folder.

The character files are in the 'Characters' folder in the main installation folder.

I checked and it is pointing to the correct installation directory. I even fully uninstalled and reinstalled with mods in the proper order, and am still getting the same errors.

As for my character files, I searched my character folder and there were no file names with my character names. I saw the premade char names, and a bunch of generic files (Bard, Paladin, etc), but nothing with my characters.

Your characters are not saved to disc automatically. You have to actually export them in-game before they become available. They also have an eight letter name limit, so you will have to choose logical names.

Well, that is good enough to fiddle with, then. :) Thanks for the help!
