Last year I purchased IWD2 and installed with enhanced mod.

All worked well, until recently where I can't open any of my savegames anymore.

The error is:

An Assertion failed in CGameEffect.cpp at line number 1744
Programmer Says: Unknown effect id: 500

I've even tried on different computer, but get same error.

The files are not empty and therefore likely not corrupt.

I don't want to restart the whole campaign, and even then, how would I be sure the unexpected error wouldn't come back?
