The sticky mod guide topic only seems to cover IWD1. BG1 and 2 and Torment also have 'essential mod' guides here on GOG but IWD2 doesn't seem to (unless I'm being silly and can't find it). Are there any such mods or fixes, apart from the official patch and the Gibberlings Tweak Pack?

Just like IWD1 IWD2 plays perfectly as is, there are no essential mods, the tweak pack is a cheat program for more comfort.
I like the tweak pack for things like unlimited stacking (Don't care if it is a cheat or not, I'm not playing for inventory management!)

The widescreen mod is essential if you have a widescreen monitor or wish to play at a higher resolution that (I think) 1024x768.

Depending on how you like your games, I found that joinable NPC mod a vast improvement. The story (IMO) of IWD2 is a bit incoherent and kind of just railroads you along anyway, so having the party banter really helped with the immersion for me. I think the G3 people did a fantastic job on it.
Thanks for answering.
I know it's been a few months since the last post but I thought I'd comment since I don't see any mention of two really good mods for IWD2: the Tactics mod for IWD2 (great mod to increase difficulty for a more challenging and better game) and the Light of Selune mod (adds many many items, changes some features like the Ranger class and make traps more dangerous).
