I was wondering, what's the rationale behind the 30 FPS cap in this game? It looks beautiful, but the low framerate makes it nearly unplayably jerky and sluggish. Also, is it an inherent flaw in Gamemaker Studio itself, or can the issue perhaps be addressed in the future?

Gamemaker Studio sets the default FPS cap to 30, so unless the devs of the game change it before they start creating animations for the game, there's no way to change that. It's also like this in Nuclear Throne. I was disappointed to launch the game after pre-ordering it and find out that it's made in GM.

Alright, thanks. Got mine on Steam and got a refund, 30 FPS isn't nice to look at.
There's an issue with this game engine though. In certain areas on my work computer (inter i3 iGPU), I get like 10 FPS and the game slows to a crawl. Just like the old games from back in the day in which faster FPS meant the game actually ran faster and vice versa.

Although 30 FPS is annoying, this game is amazing. Just like Nuclear Throne. If I were you, would've re-purchased it (on GOG!)
I know this thread is a little old, but just in case, the game has been updated to 60 fps
