Well, if you're referring to the Giants from Nausicaa of the valley of the wind. The maJor scene in which a giant appears in the movie and blasts a beam at the horde of the oncoming Ohms was done by Hideaki Anno. In case you're unfamiliar with the name Hideaki Anno was also the creator of evangelion. In other words the same person on both accounts.

I'm getting some Ender's Game vibes from the Western sector, myself; something about realizing that I am walking through the body of a dead giant makes that area so creepy.
