I'm using WIndows and I found the folder
"C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Human Resource Machine" with the files "profile.bin" (the game status, I suspect) and "settings.txt" (the game settings).

Thanks, you were right, the profile.bin file is the one containing the save game.

Same question, but I'm looking for the save game files on Linux. I just restored the directory $HOME/GOG Games/Human Resource Machine from a backup. When I start the game, it doesn't show my old save slot.

Don't know whether it's still relevant. The save game folder under Linux should be here:
~/.local/share/Tomorrow Corporation/Human Resource Machine
