This game looks really cool, but my one concern is the replay value. I don't consider beating prior scores replay value. Does anyone know if there is some kind of gauntlet or survival mode as well?

Thanks!

Hard to tell yet with the vague marketing scheme and lack of content information. I bought the game already so when I beat it I'll let you know. Might take a while, however, as real life is keeping me far too occupied at the moment.
Why don't you count highscores as replay value? The whole game is about figuring out the best way to take everybody out. You may win a level but feel unhappy about the way you won and then might want to try again and do it better.

I beat it!

The game itself is not very long, lasting only a couple hours. There's a hidden puzzle and some masks to collect, but any longevity to be had in this game is going to come exclusively through score chasing. If that's not your thing, then wait for a sale to grab it half off. The game is good, and definitely worth playing through at least one time.
Yeah I've finished the game recently and I think it's quiet enjoyable, but from now on I'll just play it to collect the missing masks and weapons and after that maybe from time to time. Replay value is, in my opinion, very low! On the other hand, the action and velocity of this game is off the hook, so playing it just once is worth it!
I'd say the different abilities bestowed by the masks allow at least some replayability. You can approach the levels in a completely different way when you have, say, silenced guns or lethal punches.

I've finished the game recently and, yes, it is a very short game. A couple of hours, maybe less to finish the main story. Then there are a "secret ending" and gameplay-changing-masks to unlock. But, the replay value mainly comes from scoring. However, the developers announced DLC (hopefully free). I guess you can wait until they come out. Also, the game is still buggy.

That being said, i'm glad i paid the full price to help the team. It is a fantastic game, amazing gameplay, terrific art, awesome story (yes really), and BEST SOUNDTRACK EVER. I expected the puzzle-shooter aspect, but i didn't think they'd put so much effort in the story and atmosphere.
So you can wait a couple months to have a better, bigger and bug-free game (and maybe a discount) OR buy it now to support the developers and get a crazy awesome buggy amazing 2 hour long fantastic top down fuck'em up !
Replay value? Oh hell yes. I hadn't gotten good at until I'd already beaten it once, so going through it the second time was like an all new experience; I got to try (and successfully pulled off) a number of risky tactics. There are many, many ways to complete each mission.

About that secret ending . . . it's not worth replaying the game for. The standard ending is much, much better. However, the gameplay, atmosphere and wonderful techno make "Hotline Miami" worth playing again and again. I'll certainly revisit it a third or fourth time, and I'm super pumped about the idea of DLC.
Thanks everyone for your input! I think I will pick it up to support the developers. I hope the DLC adds some type of survival mode.
