Now that two days has passed and the promised patch still hasn't come out I am obliged to ask: will it ever? Is there any new information I am not aware of?

Good to know.

Great to hear! Will this fix the audio issues some people (including myself) are encountering? Also, how does GOG go about patching games? Do we have to download the entire game again? Or will I somehow be able to patch my currently installed version of Hotline Miami through the GOG downloader?

I believe it's through the downloader..

But like how does GOG go about patching a game? Do they issue just an individual patch file or do you have to download the entire game in its latest build?
Entire game.

Kodaemon: Entire game.

Kodaemon:
Actually, it depends on the game.

If FTL is anything to go on, they'll release the patches as extra files just under the game itself. Just download, run and the game will be updated.

Usually, they are extra patches that are small downloads available on the account page. Simply download either standalone or through the GOG downloader, and the patch is applied to the game as long as it's installed.

Not sure if they will do the same thing for Hotline Miami, but that's how it worked for Alan Wake and Painkiller.
The patch is out! It's the whole game download again.

Let's hope I will finally be able to get past chapter 4.

Edit: And no, I still can't :( But there are a number of good fixes. For one there's a change resolution option which helps a lot with my speed issues. It's just implemented in an annoying manner. You have to change your screen resolution and the game will open in the same one.

Here are the changes that matter:

"Remapping keys are now available with movement and restart. You access this in the CONTROL section (TITLE MENU)

Game can now run in lower resulutions. That should now take care of the problem some people had getting stuck while entering stairs or elevators.

Masks perks have been fixed and tweaked.

Game saving grade on the wrong stage have been fixed. However, we are not able to move the grade you already unlocked, so to make sure you have A+ on a stage, replay it and kick its ♥♥♥ one more time to make sure the A+ displayed is the correct A+.

Most reported bugs have been taken care of and should not cause more trouble. If they still persist or you encounter any new ones please report them here on the forum or at support@devolverdigital.com."

Hmmm can't get the game to update properly, so I might as well unistall then re-install but before doing that. Anyone have any idea where the save data is stored
Backup the following files in your installation directory:

achievements.dat
saves.dat
stats.sav
mask.nfo
tempsave.sav

Save data is loose in the folder you installed the game into. Standard is Program Files/GoG.com/Hotline Miami
The uninstall will prompt you if you want to keep the saves, though.
