ZeeSvk: So with the remaster announcement and the 10 usd/eur upgrade offer. Hopefully GOG gets it as well.
Is it discrimination against buyers who are loyal to GOG. Not getting what others can get. Yet bought it in the same good faith model?

Anyone think there's a case?

Curious.

To allow the game out in the first place with GOG. Implies GOG buyers should have a claim?

The same with any other seller of the game.

To the best of my knowledge Sony has never said. You and you won't have the remaster. BEFORE you and you purchased the game from the now undesirable sellers.

Now if they had said that out in the open right at the start. They would have a case IF it was advertised well enough to reach everyone.

How many copies did the no longer desirable sellers sell?

And apart from wanting to be greedy and make as much money as they can. Was it Sony's desire to screw us all over paramount in their minds at the time. Or didn't they give it a thought?.

10? 200? 40,000?

Yep just curious.

Cheers Bob.

anzial: Honestly, don't see the point of this remaster on PC, it's an upgrade for the console (PS4 to PS5 is huge) but for PC, not so much, it already looks gorgeous and any improvements would be incremental.
It's not the reality its the principle. And it shows Sony doesn't have any. Shame it was an honorable company once. You could count on them to do what was right and proper.

Have a good one all.

Cheers Bob.

Its just not a thing on GOG with the requirement of a PSN Account.

Doom 1 + 2 Bundle needs Bethesda Account as well.

I wrote Guerilla Games an E-Mail, i didnt got an answer.

It's unfair. Others can buy the remastered for €10 on any other Platform / Stores like Steam, Epic or Console Stores. As a GOG buyer you “have” to pay €50 again, then you have the game on Steam and the Complete Edition twice. Doesn't really make sense...

The Remaster isnt that important (to me), but its a nice to have and it looks visual great. But the normal Version looks great as well.

Case? Claim? You can't be serious. We have zero standing against Sony for this "discrimination".

As long as they don't remove the original. The remaster is a garbage cash grab made simply to "justify" keeping an old game at max price (+ milk $10 more off current customers), since when/if they release the remaster (on GOG) they remove the original from sale, like Sony did on Steam.

The remaster doesn't really look any better (better here, worse there), just different in spots, with over bright, artificial looking lighting and washed out "upgraded" textures. Performance is much worse, worse then Forbidden West even, and it adds a lot of new bugs, corrupted audio files, a much more restricted max FOV, etc. etc.

The original is superior, but should be ~$19.99 by now. Hence a "remaster" for $60. "Cha-ching!"

Original at 90/100 FOV vs remaster at max FOV, loaded from the same imported save:

"Starting with tomorrow’s release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC, we’re working to add more benefits to playing with an account for PlayStation Network. The Last of Us Part II Remastered (coming April 3, 2025), in addition to God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, will all soon be adding in-game content unlocks for PlayStation Network account users.

An account for PlayStation Network will become optional for these titles on PC. Players who still opt to sign into a PlayStation Network account will also enjoy added benefits like trophies and friend management...."

It's a unexpected change for sure. That could open the way to publish the game on GOG (including Forbidden West). If having a PSN account is entirely optional the biggest problem with the game (forced PSN account, so essentially DRM) is solved.

If this remastered version of the game will ever come to GOG is still up into the air, but chances have improved. The same can be said about Forbidden West. It seems that the push back of the potential buyers did help, so maybe some lobbying (on Steam and other places) to bring the game to GOG will also help a bit.

Let's see what the future brings. I must say I have no high hopes, but something is better than nothing at all... I guess...

I hope so because the lack of native mouse controls and remapping is.............. bad. real bad.
