I havent play the series before but considering the review some say that remasters render game mechanics unworking, but other review say that it was fixed with patch.

So can someone clear the situation? What should i play? Original versions? Remasters? Maybe some third party patch is required to have a proper game?

HW2 is absolutely fine as remaster, but it's a lousy game.
HW1 is not fine as remaster, so you should stick to classic one.
HW:C is not even here, you have to get it as "emergence" because wow copyrighted the word cataclysm.
