I have a problem in HWR, during the 1st edition campaign I use alt + tab to go to the windows desktop, then returning to the game, it has suspended graphics. The sound plays, the buttons react, just as everything was ok, except for the graphics.

I have two errors in the game logs and I don't know how to deal with them:

Encountered the problem today. What I did to solve it:

1. Go to {PathToInstalledGame}\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release (replace the first part with where your game is installed, for me it's D:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release)
2. Right click HomeworldRM and select Properties, then compatibility and select "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 7" and check "Disable fullscreen optimizations"
3. Don't start the game through the launcher, start directly through the HomeworldRM and alt-tabing will work

You may notice that the menu is missing some stuff, notably the single player campaign. To fix this you need to create a shortcut to the HomeworldRM file somewhere (e.g. your desktop), then right click on the shortcut and choose "Properties", in the "Target" field add this after the path to the game file: -locale English -dlccampaign HW1Campaign.big -campaign HomeworldClassic -moviepath DataHW1Campaign

In my case the whole value of Target field looks like this:

"D:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Homeworld Remastered\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release\HomeworldRM.exe" -locale English -dlccampaign HW1Campaign.big -campaign HomeworldClassic -moviepath DataHW1Campaign

If you want to achieve the same for GOG Galaxy you can use "Additional executables".

On your game detail click the settings icon and choose Manage Installation -> Configure. There is a checkbox called "Custom executables / arguments", check it, it will already have some executables so scroll down and click "Add another executable / arguments". In that screen choose the HomeworldRM file from directory in step 1 above. To the arguments field put this value:

-locale English -dlccampaign HW1Campaign.big -campaign HomeworldClassic -moviepath DataHW1Campaign

Then you can choose the label for the game (in my case I chose "Homeworld 1 Remastered") and click OK.

Afterwards click the settings icon again, choose "Additional executables" and choose the executable you added.

Whether you used the additional executables or custom shortcut, your game should now have access to campaign and alt-tabing shouldn't freeze it anymore.
