When I hit 'end mission' for this level the game just letterboxes the screen then keeps playing. I can't control anything and its basically stuck. Does anyone know a fix for this or should I just try for another full restart?

Try changing the graphics settings in the game menu to OpenGL and see if it behaves any better.
