I've just installed Hitman 2 and started playing.

- When the game starts, I get a message stating that my laptop has switched to Win 7 basic colour scheme

- It then runs and plays without any problems

- However, when exiting, the colour scheme remains as Win 7 basic and the only way to revert to aero is to restart my laptop

I've not installed any mods or changed any resolution settings - it's basically in it's vanilla state.

I have googled this problem and there are 10 odd pages of similar issues on ms answers site (not necessarily linked to gaming) but no difinitive solution....thanks Microsoft!

By the way, drivers etc are up to date.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

EDIT:
I kept digging and this works for me:

"right click on the game's exe and properties then compatibility tab and unchk the box that says "Disable desktop composition", and chk on "run As an Administrator"
