It amazes me how long Shawn can survive being poisoned. He's way tougher than the "Quest For Glory hero" at that. I've had times where I played "Quest For Glory 3" where I went to sleep poisoned, forgot I was poisoned, and never woke up. I've had times where I played "Quest For Glory 5," and the hero died so soon after being poisoned that they couldn't give him the new antidote in time (this seems to be a bug... there is a point in the game where the hero is supposed to get poisoned, sometimes he gets cured in time and sometimes he doesn't). And then in the first 2 QFG games, the hero dies as soon as he is poisoned, unless he took an anti-dote before.

But Shawn can go to sleep poisoned, and wake up alive. So what happens to him when he is poisoned?

The main effect of poison in Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption is that it reduces Shawn's maximum stamina until he gets an antidote.

Originally, poison slowly reduced Shawn's current stamina (health) and could kill him. In playtesting we decided this might have been realistic, but wasn't fun. To keep the game playable, we changed to the "maximum health" penalty. So yes, Shawn won't die of failing to cure poison, but he indirectly is in more danger as long as he doesn't deal with it.
