I have both the GOG and the Steam version of this game, since I was a Kickstarter backer, and I'm encountering a problem that seems to be specific to the GOG version. After I complete the tutorial and answer all of Terk's questions, the game is supposed to progress to the classroom. Instead, it just goes to a black screen and gets stuck there indefinitely. Music is playing, but nothing else ever happens. I can't even quit the game properly; if I open Task Manager and end the process, it refuses to end. I have to completely restart my computer to shut down the game.

I first discovered this issue while live-streaming the game (embarrassing!), but it happens even if I'm not streaming. I've also tried playing in different resolutions, and it happens regardless, in both full-screen and windowed mode. I should add that I'm running Windows 7, and I thought it might be an issue with Unity (since from what I understand, Unity doesn't really support Windows 7 anymore), but I don't think that's the case, because the Steam version runs perfectly fine.

So...what is it about the GOG version of this game that's causing it to break like this? I know it's only been out for a couple weeks, so I doubt there are many solutions floating around, but does anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this?

Seems like an uncommon problem, since everyone else in this forum is complaining about other things, further on in the game. So probably the way to figure out what's going wrong for you, is to hear a bit more about your environment. I don't have any Win7 environment to try it on so I have no help for that part.
Try finding the GOG installation folder for the game and running it directly without using GOG Galaxy. If that works, then there is some integration problem between Galaxy and our game that will need to be resolved by GOG. If it still fails, see if you can find your output_log.txt file and send it to support (at) hero-u (dot) net. In fact, do that either way so we can see if there's a clue in that file.
Update: I tried running the game on my Windows 10 laptop, and did not encounter the issue. So I suspect the key factor here is Windows 7.

Thanks a bunch! I'm away from home at the moment, but I'll give that a try as soon as I have access to my desktop again and update this thread with the results. :)
Update 2: I've done as you suggested and tried running the game from the installation folder, and encountered the same issue. I've gone ahead and sent my output_log file to the e-mail address you provided. Looking forward to a solution, if one exists...
