So, when I first had the opportunity to ask Ifetaya about speaking to Ghosts, she talked about it then asked me if I really wanted to speak to Ghosts. I gave her a Snarky remark and thereafter that option is no longer available on her dialogue menu. Because Of this, I can't make the Gris-Gris. I Can get the mushroom, but when I click on the dead pirate I am not given the option to take his hair. Now, I have the option to ask her about SUMMONING a Ghost, but she mentions that I have to have a Gris-Gris to speak to them after being summoned. I have tried going back to and contacting ghosts in an attempt to get her to re-open that dialogue but that hasn't worked.

It is day 31. Having played before, I am fairly confident that I can complete the game without speaking to any of the ghosts, but I know I will miss out on a lot. Is this a bug or was this intentionally done to punish you for being a smart ass?

Thanks In Advance

Good question. I was in a similar situation - i.e. had already completed it and was going for a smart-ass run through, got locked out of the gris-gris.

I suspect it might be a bug due to an overlooked conversation path, as I can't imagine that they'd consciously lock one out of a bunch of content just because of a single remark, with no way whatsoever to make up for it later. Sure, it's definitely possible to miss out on content, but usually that's because one doesn't do something on time, or one refuses to do something and someone else does it instead (i.e. the consequences happen sooner, as opposed to only becoming apparent many days later).

Also if this had been intentional, then surely the dialogue would have reflected that, e.g. she would have said something like "you need a gris-gris, but I don't think you're mature enough so I'm not making you one".

Edit: Just thought of something: it'd be cool if there were a way to ask Thomas about borrowing his gris-gris. I don't think it's possible, as I can't recall any options appearing there - but then I never tried since I always had one by then (I think I reverted to an older save that one time I was locked out of the gris-gris due to snarkiness). If you're still on that play through, maybe give that a try and let us know if it works?

If you wait until the Nights of the Dead (for instance, day 37), there will be a new conversation option that lets you get the gris-gris quest. That's available now.

We've made some changes to loosen Ifetaya's tongue in earlier scripts, but haven't posted them to GOG or Steam yet. We'll include those changes with an upcoming fix to Galaxy achievements later this month.

Just wanted to re-up this - as of GOG patch 20200720, the OP's issue doesn't appear to be fixed. I also gave a "snarky" response to Ifetaya during the initiation of the gris-gris quest, and it appears to have caused some sort of bug in the quest preventing me from receiving any necessary items. I received the updated dialogue options on Day 37, but it doesn't appear to fix the issue *if* you gave a "snarky" response the first time.
