I recently got a new laptop and it came with Windows 8 already installed, my old laptop ran 7 and played HOMM3 perfectly but when I try to redownload it on this one it won't let me. Does anybody have any advice on being able to play HOMM3 on Windows 8?

It works well for me, except I can't figure out how to set windows 8 to 16-bit color, so I cannot play in windowed mode.

Install in another folder, eg. not in Program Files or Program Files (x86), make a folder Games or something where you install the games, for example I have a different partition set up for games. And maybe also try using the Heroes3HD version, it has some fixes in it
