I feel a little awkward complaining about it. But every time I see it, it disrupts the fun a little.

The grammar in this game is apalling. I can only assume it was developed for a language other than English, because Sweet Zombie Jesus, this is awful.

Every time I want to reanimate the dead, I am asked if I want to rise them.

The Hunters Lodge in the elven city desperately needs an apostrophe.

And there's a bunch of other ones kicking around all through the game's text. None of this is going to stop me playing it, of course, and I do not regret the purchase, but it's frustrating.
Do you have a girlfriend?
That's not only your problem. My version of Heroes 5 is in Polish (boxed, not from GoG) and it also has few grammar issues (e. g. is one description two letters are swapped). But worse stuff happened in older versions of the game - there was a situation where some stuff were in Polish (as it should) and others were in English.
You should blame Nival Interactive for that. In any way Heroes 5 isn't a HoMM game at all, NWC and 3DO have no relation to this game.
Blame Ubisoft.

When H5 was just released, everyone I know got the pirate Russian version while I got the pirate British version, and I had to explain the jokes and plot points that were lost in translation to Russian.

How patriotic of you. >.>

We are talking exactly about the international (English) version of the game. There's no need to complain about false patriotism.

But that's the whole point! You can't blame Nival for spelling in the English version!
