You can probably find players on Game Ranger and GameSpy Arcade. Be aware that most ppl use Hamachi now for this. Also check out HeroesCommunity.com for a great Heroes site.

Gameranger has plenty of HOMM3 players last time I checked. I second the recommendation to visit heroescommunity.com.
