Hi,

I installed HoMM III with GOG Galaxy and I want to play it with a friend by internet (we are in differents countries).

I do not have so much experience but I suppose that the sequence is: Multiplayer > Online Service; but when I "click" on Online Service, the game closes automatically.

I have no idea about the problem..

Can someone help me?

Thanks

The official servers died almost 2 decades ago.

Use TCP/IP or LAN, and make sure DirectPlay is enabled in your Windows control panel.

Hi again,

First, thanks for reply.

Hahahaha Ok... No online services.

So I tried with TCP/IP > Host > Session Name and Password > select a map and click on Begin > error window "you must have at least 2 players to launch a multiplayer game. Check you advanced options or select a new map".

Sorry because of my ignorence but I have never done before. I do not know if I need another program (as gameranger) to create the online game or what...

Thanks

Hello I am having the same problem when tyring to play this game with a friend. it wont connect to the IP we input. Have you found a solution?
Hi,

for these old games you usually need to set up some things to work today.
I don't have any experience with HOMM3 but before blaming the game, there may be some more basic stuff.
No insult but just let's start with some very basics for setting up your server:

- Your Windows firewall must allow to pass the games packages (this applies to the guest PC as well).
- You need to set your routers port forwarding: ports 47264 and port range 2300-2400 (both TCP and UDP) have to be forwarded to your hosting PC
- Your router needs to use IPV4
- Your internet connection musst support TRUE IPV4 ... there are more and more providers, that only give you IPV6 and a shared IPV4 address via Dual Stack Lite (DSLite), a shared one does not work for hosting.

Maybe this is helpful.
Greetings and good luck with it. :-)

PS: As Plok_HR said: Installing Windows Direct Play components on both PCs may be needed, too.
