hey i installed it fine through wine but sounds cuts off randomly after so long. i use ubuntu 10.10

Are you using ALSA or PulseAudio? Maybe it's the problem.

Try other devices for sound in the Wine config. I myself currently use ALSA when i play HOMM4. Also on Ubuntu 10.10 :)
