here is a video i made showing not only may Android run the game perfectly fine with touch controls but in 4k 60fps.

the video isnt a guide as to how i installed and/or configured it to work.

ill tell you now tho what i tell anyone that asks for sucha guide.

and that is where and what resources to use to make it happen. mayb a few generic tips on how to make it happen but nothing indepth

1st obviously buy the gog version of HoMM and/or HoMM 2 Gold(yes both run 100% on Android)

then goto google store and search for the app Magic Dosbox (i use/own the paid version)

once you get the app and bought your game(s)

download said game(s) to your windows pc.

install it/them.

then what i did next was compress all installed files and folders for each game sept anything dosbox into a rar file.

once compressed i uploaded each rar 1 for each game to my google drive account.

then download each rar to your Android.

next extract each rar to where you want either game to be installed and run on your phone.

from there launch Magic Dosbox and well configure it in there.

now Magic Dosbox does have a dedicated website with step by step guides in great detail on how to configure games/software with it but i am not linking to it here cus im being lazy and well personally dont need it.

tho the url should be accessable from the apps store page.

and why Magic Dosbox over the standerd dosbox free app?

cus Magic Dosbox provides a user friendly front menu that makes configuration and use of dosbox easy. plus by default it makes mouse controls touch conrrols for every software.

you are aware i clearly stated this on Android not Windows right?

and the music? are you aware the dos version of the game comes with not just HoMM 2 core's music but the expansions too?

yeah. i play the expansion music.

but nice wrapper for Windows nonetheless.

oh and just so ya kno the latest version of dosbox has the opengl wrapper working finally.

so really you shouldnt need to download anything for opengl support.

also the game clearly states especially on XL maps it runs best in dos and crashes most in its Windows counterpart

I didn't say music in particular. I ment sound quality. Sounds terrible. Was it because of recording method?

Stixsmaster: yeah. i play the expansion music.
I prefer POL themes as well.

sound quality likely was due to how you record audio on phones with recorders. sadly most screen recording apps require the permission to record the mic audio.

and when you play it back the decibals are like literelly worse than nails on a chalkboard. so when i trim my video in the editor i also lower it by 90% of its usual decibal rate so it doesnt explode ear drums.

and yeah unless sumone is willing to code the wrapper into a functioning Android app version like Dosbox doubt itll be much use to Android users.

i see it states it fixes bugs. which is nice. id like to try it on my windows when i get home from my job.

which is dog/house sitting. on my 3rd week for 1 job.

that explains why i took the time to figure out howto run and enjoy the fully patched version on the go.

Screen aspect ratio is horribly wrong. Was that intentional or it's a limitiation of the particual emulator?

What do you mean? Original game is.. what? 4:3? It is stretched to 16:9 on modern display.

You are speaking like it's some sort of inavoidable doom.
Even if one is blessed with a dumb hardware which can not distinguish between (S)VGA and widescreen resolutions there are solutions. For Windows version of the game that would be wrappers; for DOS version of the game it's settings in DOSBox configuration file.
So my question actually is not "what is happening" but rather "why it's happeing".
Why is the picture is left in the distorted state? Author can not fix the aspect ratio because of 'Magic Dosbox' limitations? Or author simply do not want to fix it? I know: there are people who are agree to have wrong pixel proportions just to avoid letterboxing.

Why not?
my opinion?

its stretched cus yes of the black bars from hell.

but.

also cus i unno bout you but the proportions of things in an aspect ratio of 4:3 appear taller and thinner than they ought.

i stretched it wide so theyd appear proportionally more proper.

if ya dont like it np.

i just cant stand seeing my game played as a Tall Man version of itself

for those curious too.

here is a video of the original game running on Android in 4k too.

So, not a question of the software but just a personal imprinting. Nevermind then.
