I havent baught HOMM5 yet on GOG. I have the Original on HOMM5 on steam, but its lack a widescreen option. After reserach I found out that there was a "real" widescreen option in the Addons.

My questions are:

- Does the GOG version have "real" widescreen without stretching
- Do the addons patch the Original with their real "widescreen" fix
- Is there any other to play the Original Campain in the Addons
if the first questions have "no" as anwer?

I am not sure what you call "stretching". If you're referring to different texture size for a different resolution, then no. Otherwise yes, the GoG version supports widescreen. I'm running Tribes of the East @ 1920/1080 and I can claim the same about Hammers of Fate. It's a bit like zooming in, for a higher resolution, however nothing looks stretched. Not sure about the vanilla game, however I'd be surprised if it didn't support it.

Try this. Tribes of the East should work fine with wide screens. This is a port of the campaigns in the original game and Hammers of Fate into the engine of Tribes of the East. It was done with the blessings of the copyright owners.

Also, there are some fan-made scenarios and an alternate EXE that features a modified AI. They claim that this alternative changes the way the scenarios play, and is more challenging in general.

I followed the link in that forum post you linked and the three downloads are weird... It's like the guy stuck an unnecessary file format and it thinks it's a ".001" file instead of a .7z and 7zip can't negotiate them...

Right-click on the first file, labelled 001. 7zip will unpack the three files automatically.

Instructions:
Update Tribes of The East to V3.1 (Steam version should already be updated)
Extract the contents of this ZIP to your HoMM5: ToTE directory. Nothing should be overwritten.
Run the game via Bin\H5_AIadv_31j.exe for improved performance, AI & interface in offline play.
Run the game via the normal EXE if you want to play networked/online multiplayer.
Access the full range of content from all three games via the Campaign and Custom Game panels.
