Perhaps anyone knows of a workaround:
HOMM5 on Win10 crashes every second to third time a necropolis ist "opened" without any error-message (just returning to windows). Saving the game before doubleclicking the necropolis does the trick, after starting the game again and loading, the city can be "opened" for the next 1-2 days. It looks like a memory-leak or other bug in that category. I think, the GOG-Version has the "last" patch-level, i tried every Windows-"compatibility option", nothing changes.
Sometimes the game also crashes in cinematic sequences, but this is less annoying.
Thanks for any hints in advance,

Jens.

Hi Jens, I am also having problems with the necro quests. For me, the necro heroes work fine, but the allied empire units, eg the queen or her knights always crash when opening strongholds or Archer Towers etc. I doubled my RAM as I thought that might have been the problem as other apps were slow, but It still crashes to desktop. It used to work fine before the Windows 10 updates, but no longeer works properly.
I completed the entire Necromancer campaign of HOMM 5 on Windows 10, and I never once had any crashes.

And I also never made any changes whatsoever to any of the default settings that the game automatically comes installed with.

I'm not sure what is causing your guys' crashes.

But based on my never-crashing experience with Windows 10 and this game, it seems like the problem is not Windows 10 in and of itself (although maybe it's Windows 10 in combination with some other thing, of which I don't know what that might be).

Thanks for your input ARD. I'll try and start again and see if that works
