After I have installed the game, a small loading circle appears and then after five seconds windows 8 tells me that "Heroes of Might and Magic 3 has stopped working."
I've tried many different compatibility settings; all of them fail.
when i ran the directx diag this was the problem

Will anyone help me?
I mean, is the answer so obvious that people think I'm retarded so they don't condescend to answer?
I'm dying here.

Can I bump this? Been a few years, but I'm getting the same issue on a new install.
I'm trying to run it in Windows XP Mode virtual machine. Not sure if it's possible to run in a VM, but it's this same error.

After I have installed the game, a small loading circle appears and then after five seconds windows 8 tells me that "Heroes of Might and Magic 3 has stopped working."
