Hellow fellow old players

About Heroes of Might and Magic II (2): GOLD

I buy it today and start the basic map of we all known to well the "Broken Alliance"

I choose the necroman and all looks like i remember.

Them i "listen" the music of Necro city, and is not what was in original... sad.

The things became more weird when i upgraded my vampires to Vampire Lords... (they dont leech life) !!! yes ! they only died, when they attack, nothing happens, no "animate dead" animation, sound and rezz... they fight like normal vampires with yellow capes :(

My end comes with a sorceress who spawn " Holy shout" and in my turn, every time i tried to use my "Dead Ripple" the game says, this magic works on no one (or something like this), and only I, had undead troops, she had normal sorce troops...!!! (i spawn stoneskin and lightning, as dead ripple was proibited by the game)

Can someone explain what happens ? this is a general bug ? please.

The Vampire Lords will leech life, but there's no animation to show it. You need to watch the numbers instead.

When the game says "this will affect nobody", but it should, it means the enemy hero has an artifact that negates the spell. Both the Holy and Death spells can be negated this way.

Does anyone know exactly how Vampire Lords work in HoMM2? I am familiar with the mechanics in other versions, but I'm stumped here.

-I can tell that the "alive" qualification doesn't matter (they can drain elementals/gargoyles/etc)
-I don't think the "can't raise more than the # of creatures you killed" from IV applies
-Do you not gain any health at all back unless the stack you're hitting loses > 40 hit points?
