I observed that HOMM2 has an issue with huge memory leak on my PC.
It happens on default HOMM2 version. On alternative windows version this problem is not present.

My PC specs:

Core2Duo E8400 (2x3.0GHz)
4GB DDR3
128GB Kingston SSD
Radeon HD5450 512MB
Windows 10 Pro

I observed that when I turn on HOMM2 on my ancient PC there is a huge memory leak.
After about 0,5h of playing HOMM2 game is choppy and unstabble.
From 4GB of RAM 3,9GB is used. RAMMap is showing that 3,5GB is in non-paged pool.
Only solution for this is close the Heroes2w.exe process or restart the computer.
I tried everything - reinstalling OS, updating drivers and swapping graphic card but without success.

Hi. Problem solved. It's wasn't fault of heroes2w.exe process but my sound card driver. MS replaced my sound driver with one of shitty drivers from windows update database.

I don't use Windows, and haven't for almost 20 years. I understand that things have changed over the years, so i'd like to ask out of curiosity: If HOMM2 is the only program that was giving you trouble, why did you think that reinstalling Windows would help? From what I remember of Windows, reinstalling the program or running defrag sounds reasonable, but why the entire OS?
