While playing Heroes of Might and Magic 2 Gold, I noticed that the town music playing was from the original game, not the Price of Loyalty expansion. Is there any way to hear the expansion music in the game or replace the original town soundtrack with the expansion?

I remember hearing the expansion music when I played HoMM2 Gold years ago, so I'm rather confused as to why I can't hear it now.

There are three different variants of the HoMM II Soundtrack.
1. Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars (original November 4, 1996 release).
2. Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Price of Loyalty Expansion Pack (released May 5, 1997).
3. Heroes of Might and Magic Millenium Edition disk 2 with Heroes II Gold re-release (August 26, 1999). This disk contains some CD-quality audio tracks from HoMM III.
You should dump the desired CD using CloneCD (recommended) and mount it via Dosbox (instead of GoG image) to change the ingame sound.

Sadly but no. I mean original CD releases made by New World Computing/3DO back in the days... It seems that GoG HoMM II release represents homemade CD image with HoMM II Compendium Edition combined with audio tracks from HoMM II: The Succession Wars released CD but quality of the audio tracks is questionable.

I would buy it (and perhaps play) only for nostalgic reasons, but if I am to pay for it, I'd prefer the full package. So I guess I'll wait until GOG updates the package to include all H2 soundtracks before I buy it.

Since this is the Gold version, is there a way to make the music from the expansion play?
