Hi guys,

Could use some assistance. I've tried everything in the support guide to try and get the game to run. System information below...

OS: Windows 10 Pro
CPU = Ryzen
Ram= 16gb

Now, the game initially loads up to a point. I see the art screen loader in the bottom right corner of my screen, not centered. It goes nowhere beyond that. It won't load the menus, I don't hear the wonderful music I used to hear when the game is loaded.

Any help is greatly appreciated. On a side note, Heroes 4 works without issue. The V series I purchased, does not.

EDIT: See attached image

You can't see the load art in the bottom right, but for whatever reason, it gets stuck there with the load art in the bottom right and a spinning blue circle - infinately.

To rule it out, make sure you have DirectX 9.0c installed. And yes, it has to be installed manually because it's separate from DirectX 10-12 and doesn't come pre-installed with any Windows version.

Well, just to make sure, I've installed it again. And, unfortunately, same thing. Will not load.

Well, after a considerable amount of time wasted reading and following all sorts of steps, I've run into a "crazy russian guy" who got it to work quite simply. It's stupid, and I tried the option before with no luck. The difference is, I was "running as administrator" box checked with it.

All I needed to do was go to the BIN folder, right click the H5GAME executable, and go to compatibility. From there, just check the "disable full screen optimizations". Do not check the run as administrator box.

Viola. It's working. Silly, because the support directions say to enable the admin option. However, this account is the administrator... Perhaps it caused conflict?

In any case it works!

Nah, it was most likely just the fullscreen optimizations setting. Disabling it does help with some games.

Hi,

I recently downloaded this game and I'm having the exact same issue.

I have just finished playing the 4th installment of the series with no issue from GOG.

I have Direct-X 12 installed (default with windows 10) but I'm thinking the problem is more the 'disable full screen etc" that you spoke of which is the real issue as I downloaded the 2 latest versions of the series from Steam and the latest version worked just fine like installment 4, however, the 2nd latest had the same issue as this version 5.

With the 2nd latest installment (version 6) I disabled full screen and the game worked, however it didn't play well.

The screen was stretched and was hard to play.

My Question;

Is this what happened with you? Or did the game look and play well once you disabled full screen and un-checked administrator?

Also, how do I download Direct-X 9 and will it affect other aspects of other games.

Many Thanks.
