I am having an incredibly difficult time in the final scenerio in Rolands campaign. I never have enough troops or gold. The computer has too many heroes and resources, and keep me too weak to attack. Any strategy that could help me. Ive become very frustrated but still want to finish the game.
When the level starts, buy several heroes with quick units and send them to collect as much of the grounds resources and tag as many mines as possible (and also have them look for obelisks, you might get lucky with a super artifact). Have them transfer all of their units but one to the garrison before leaving the city.
If you have Dwarven Alliance, try to gather as many neutral dwarves as possible in the garrison as well.

A little cheesy, but you can try the suicide bomber strategy in order to soften enemy's stronger heroes once you have some resources. You need some luck in order to use it - you need to get the Armageddon spell in your tower. But after that, select a strong enemy hero you want to destroy, and send several first level heroes to cast Armageddon on his army, then mop up with your main hero. You can do this until your main is of high enough level.
Alright but Armageddon is a 5th level spell, 1st level characters don't have expert wisdom. How can this be done?

I think he meant that as a strategy for the last battle, againt Archibald and some other high level hero, not something to use right from the beginning... at the start of the level, you shouldn't have much troubles levelling up one main hero and using others as "mules" to gather resources
