Right now I'm playing Heroes Chronicles: Conquest of the Underworld, and I've noticed something very peculiar. In some maps, you actually have an Allied Hero who helps reveal the map and fights enemies for you.

I'm assuming this is not intentional, and that the teams are supposed to be everyone against YOU, and their allied so as to NOT fight each other. Because it doesn't seem to make much sense otherwise. In fact, it kind of drains you from getting experience.

No, I believe this is by design. The allies are supposed to represent expeditionary forces, and/or troops controlled by the queen whatshername. The lady Tarnum keeps sending the mushy letters to in the storyline. The real quest in the map is just to find the right border guard and exit.
