When I last tried to run HoMM 2 on Vista, no music except the MIDI option worked. Is it any different with the GoG version?

HoMM2 came in two versions: DOS and Windows one. Ironically, it's much easier to run the DOS version properly - early Windows games used some strange quirks that make them usually not compatible with newer, more secure Windows systems.

Fortunately, GOG sells here the DOS version run by bundled DOSBox software. It works fine under every system capable of running DOSBox and it obviously includes Windows Vista.

In shops you ususally see the WIndows version being sold, that's why you probably had problems with it. GOG's version should work completely fine for you.

The Windows 95 version of HOMM2 works fine in Win 2000\XP 32bit.
