Hi Everyone

I bought Chronicles the other week after finding about them for the first time through this website. I was well excited to play some new campaigns but after finishing the first 2 I have found them extremely disappointing. The stories are some of the best I've played in Heroes and the maps are well designed but the levels are far too easy, even on Impossible.

In the final battle of the last chapter I finished in like 2 weeks just by flying to the end boss and beating him with Implosion since all my stats were 60.

I can't be bothered to play the next chapter if it is going to be just as easy, so I was wondering if any of them are at least a little challenging? And if so, which do you recommend?

Thanks

:)
Unfortunately they're all pretty easy. You'll basically just be strolling casually through each map for the sake of following the story and exploring what each map has to offer. Whether or not that appeals to you is your call.
I remember when the Chronicles were released and I thought "is there no end to the milking of this franchise?" and I skipped them. My instinct to skip them was right, but I later learnt that they were apparantly meant for newcomers to the HoMM games.

Chronologically they are supposed to take place before HoMM 1, so I guess playing them before the other HoMM games may be an idea.

But are there no mods that increase the difficulty?

aww that is a let down, Heroes 5 here I come then!
The main reason they're so easy even on the higher difficulties is because there are so many loose resources everywhere. The quest and border guards/gates also have a tendency to work for you rather than against you, which often relieves a lot of the pressure.

Still, I enjoyed them. The stories are very well done, and sometimes it's nice to have a change of pace.
I beg to disagree. Chronicles aren't easy at all when starting each scenario on Impossible difficulty with no resources. Especially chapters 7 and 8 (The Final Chapters). Even Chapter 1 (Warlords of the Wasteland) have some difficulties because heroes don't get Wisdom and Magic Schools until scenario 5. Original Heroes 3 campaigns (except Shadow of Death) are far more easiest than Chronicles. Moreover the main purpose of the Chronicles is to connect the plot between HoMM III and IV.

Chronicles is so easy that I could finish most of them on Impossible, using only Auto Combat, and always choosing the worst skills (like Eagle Eye instead of Logistics). Only on the fourth map of Revolt of the Beastmasters was I defeated.
Eagle Eye is a top skill! :)
