I have installed HoMM 3 plus the update on my Windows 10 PC. When i open the game an error massage appears: "HoMM 3 stopped working".

Am I the only one with this problem, do one of you know how to fix this.

I also tried to run the game in Windows XP pack 2 and 3 and as administrator.

Download and install the Heroes III HD mod. It'll fix a few issues and bring some neat features like high resolutions.

I have the very same problem. The game worked on my Windows 8 PC but not on my new one with Windows 10. I've tried:

Running as an admin
Running in every possible compatibility mode
Making sure Chrome is not running
Installing the older DirectX files
Making sure my graphics card is up to date

And a bunch of other things I can't remember right now. I tried all the things on the general support page about games crashing, and emailed support and followed all of their suggestions. Finally, they just said to me that if I had access to an older PC I could just play the game on that. Obviously, that's not an acceptable solution.

I've been scouring this forum and the internet in general and it seems that many people have had this exact problem, but no one seems to have a solution for it. Based on how widespread the issue is, it has to be a Windows 10 issue. I wish GOG would figure out what it is and make their game work! I love this game and what's more, I paid for it, and would like to be able to play it.

I don't want to do the HD mod because from what I understand it's not the full game (like including Armageddon's Blade) and I don't think I can play multiplayer, which I do a lot with my sister who does not live with me---we can't play hot seat.

Does anyone have any tips??

The HD remake, the one sold as a new product, is the one that does not include the expansions

The HD mod, the free download that applies to the original version, it's is the full package, with support for both expansions and all

It should work in multi just like the original HoMM3, with direct IP connection and/or the help of Hamachi on modern systems (don't forget to activate DirectPlay in the Windows Control Panel, which is probably OFF by default on Win10)

On that second link, at the bottom it says "not compatible with Armageddon's Blade." So I'm confused...does it include that or not? I don't want to download it if it's not gonna work for the HOMM3 complete.

What that means is that it's not compatible if you only have Armageddon's Blade expansion, or are playing the vanilla Restoration of Erathia. I agree they could have worded it better.
It is compatible with Complete Edition, which includes all expansions and is what GOG is selling.
